writing “full time”

December 20, 2006 by Jane

It’s been going well this week, though I am still cleaning up a few parts of the book that I had been putting off. One more thing to take care of tonight, then tomorrow hopefully will get started on content that so far has existed only in me mind.

The more I listen to the Band of Horses CD the more I like it. I’ve gotten used to all the reverb in the vocals. Here is a list of a few songs I’ve been rotating:

“Monsters” Band of Horses
“For Want of” Rites of Spring
“I’m Blessed” Brendan Benson
“Nothing’s Wrong” Patrick Park
“A Man Like Me” Beulah
“Yours and Mine” Calexico
“Don’t Get Sad” Ida
“This Year” The Mountain Goats
“Go Or Go Ahead” Rufus Wainwright
“The Past and Pending” The Shins
“Fiction Friction” Unwound
“Butterfly” Weezer

And now to step away from the machine and walk to a coffee shop.

their tour ep (some live songs, some pre-phil ek) are shockingly un-reverbified.

Is it good? maybe I will give it a listen… though I shy away from “live albums” in general, though there are of course exceptions to this rule.

i LOVE that band of horses CD. that particular song is my favorite, i think, though i really lik e”the great salt lake” as well.

and of course you know that i love that mountain goats song/CD.

      Yay for music!

Whenever I accidentally get a look at mainstream year-end best albums lists, I kind of wonder what planet I am living on, and if it’s the same as the one where people actually still buy Red Hot Chili Peppers music. God.

So should I really get that TV on the Radio record or what? People seem to dig it.

Hahahaha! I am amused by your assuming that I have that album–but I am wondering if I should get it just like you are.

I keep seeing it on all the indie lists (har), but I know that won’t necessarily mean I will like it.

I am crossing my fingers for an iTunes gift card for thee holidays, so I shall hold off and hope I can just check it out for free. I am also considering the latest Neko Case.

so many people that have impeccable taste in music get really into neko case, but i’ve never really understood why. maybe just because she’s purty, i dunno.

i like me some nora o’connor, though, if we’re talking country-esque.

Oof. I know that I’m old because I only know 3 of the artists that you listed.
