breakfast

April 21, 2007 by Jane

I make this for breakfast most weekends:

Pretty simple, use old-fashioned organic rolled oats, cooked the usual way on the stove with milk. Before I make the oatmeal, I cook a chopped apple in the saucepan, with some raisins, cinnamon, and a tsp of brown sugar. Add the fruit into the oatmeal right before removing it from heat and letting it cook, covered, for about ten minutes.

It’s awesome every time. Sometimes I add strawberries, too.

Thanks! And it is so simple and cheap. I buy the oats in bulk for about a dollar a pound. After making this I won’t ever eat “instant oatmeal” again…

that looks delish but I have to admit I feel a pain of inconvenience turning on the oven for breakfast on weekday mornings.

Yeah, I have only made it on the weekday when I get up early and am feeling extremely motivated.
