Some people think that most commercial holidays are just an excuse to sell cheap, shitty candy. This can be easily demonstrated by the way that Mars and Hershey’s just change the color of their m&ms or the foil on their Kisses depending on what time of year it is. Everything’s color coded, makes it all so easy!
For non-religious people like me, Easter is just another candy holiday, and in my opinion it is the best one. Why? Cadbury Creme eggs. Original only. Which are of course best purchased on the Monday after Easter. However, Easter also blesses us with chocolate bunnies and hollow chocolate eggs full of jellybeans. It also curses us with Peeps.
By the way, I have yet to eat a Cadbury egg this year. I’m holding out as long as possible.
Then you have your full-on unapologetic candy holiday: Halloween. Also known as the orgy of candy. A free for all. Careful you don’t get diabetes, kids! I am not fond of Halloween for this reason. You should see my work area in the first week of November. Acres of uneaten mini Milky Ways, tempting and taunting me.
Valentine’s Day is a great candy holiday too, only because you get to trade chocolate for sex. Which is cool.
My favorite Christmas candy is above all, mint Frangos, which were invented in Seattle and a big part of my Christmases as a kid. Those who claim Frango was created in Chicago, I direct you hither.

it used to be all about the cadbury eggs for me but now i’m all about reese’s peanut butter eggs (also at xmas peanut butter trees) but for some reason, the eggs are the best. i prefer the small ones but hey, i’m not too picky. i’m just a sucker for chocolate and peanut butter put together.
p.s. my favorite holiday is halloween however because i love halloween decorations. some people collect christmas villages, i have a halloween village, or at least the beginnings of one.
