numb fingers

August 9, 2007 by Jane

Tonight Brian showed me how to play “Palmcorder Yanja” on the guitar. After about a half hour of practice, I got it, but … are my fingers delicate little flowers or what?

I don’t know why I never became a musician — apart from singing, which I can still do and love to do. But I never learned an instrument, or had an interest in writing songs. I think that particular talent is not something that can be chosen, per se. It has to be something you want from a very young age.

Though I can’t write songs, I still love performing and tonight when I finally got the hang of the chords, I got to really enjoy making music for a little while.

This is music nerd stuff but my favorite part is the note progression on the vocals in the last verse:

And I dreamt of a factory
Where they manufactured what I needed
      Using shiny new machines

As I have said before, I can still hear your voice in my head… Both your speaking voice and singing voice.. heavenly, I kid you not!
