my first meatloaf

October 19, 2007 by Jane

Recipe courtesy Alton Brown. It turned out very well. Even Brian liked it, in fact said it was the first meatloaf he ever liked. yay!

Served with roasted yukon potatoes tossed in olive oil, salt, pepper, and rosemary clipped from the bush in the backyard today.

It’s pouring rain again.

How funny, I can’t think of any meatloaf I have ever liked either, but this looks really good!

Thanks! I linked to the recipe yesterday, I think. I didn’t use any garlic though, as poor Brian is allergic.

i found the cumin in the ketchup gravy to be overpowering.

really? I didn’t use that much, just a couple of pinches.

yeah, i followed the recipe, trusting his 1/4t or whatever it was,(it’s in the drawer in the kitchen, i’m too lazy to go look.) but i like a more traditional type gravy with my meatloaf anyway so it was doomed from the start.

I loooove roasting potatoes that way – we use sea salt, but damn aren’t they awesome? Fresh rosemary is amazing.
