hm

May 20, 2008 by Jane

Just got an email that may have been spam, addressed to “Dear Sir”, claiming to be interested in buying my domain name. People buy dot-orgs now? Right.

They wanted me to name my price. I think $250k would be a good start; we could pay off our house and get a solar array for the roof.

what to do?

You may very well have hooked your own, personal Nigerian scam artist. What is a solar array?

Eh, it could have been real. The email address was a gmail address with the same name as the sender. And they actually spelled all the words right. But I doubt they’d give me a quarter mil. Of course that just makes me want to demand the even million, why not.

A solar array is an array of solar panels. I have been hanging around my tree hugging husband too long.

I think you have a desirable name and it could be real. I’d ask for more so maybe you could be talked down to 250k. You’ll know if you talk to them whether it’s real or not.

    What to do?

Consider it an investment… in 10 years someone could come along with the megabucks… well, more megabucks… Why not sit on it for a while?
