the real first day of spring

April 5, 2009 by Jane

I checked the temp on our remote digital thermometer — 66 degrees F outside. That is the warmest it has been here in six months, and that is no exaggeration.

Like someone coming out of hibernation, I left the house in a short-sleeved t-shirt and jeans for the first time in I don’t know how long. I took Kona on a nice walk, soaking up pure vitamin D the whole way. There were lots of people outdoors; to stay inside on a day like today, after this endless winter, would seem like a crime.

But now I am home again, relaxing my pregnant self, and about to make a cold soba noodle salad for tomorrow’s lunch. Tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer. Sandals?? Ooooh maybe! Shit I better paint my toenails. They’ve been colorless for three weeks.

Yes, paint them while you can, one of the luxeries of pg is to have pedicures! I have no excuse, except to do them for Easter.
