I was stretching my legs this morning in bed, as I always do, and suddenly got a nasty cramp in my calf. I figured this would happen eventually; it’s another fun pregnancy thing. Oh man it hurt so bad, I was gasping and making all this noise, which caused Brian to ask me if it was the baby, and I said no, my leg auuuuggghhhhh so he rubbed it until it stopped seizing. So that was a treat. It’s still kinda sore.
Yesterday I felt very overwhelmed by all the work needed for the nursery, and the mess in the guest room. Originally I planned for my desk (“office”) to remain in the baby’s room for a while because it didn’t seem like it could go anywhere else. This made for a very cramped nursery (the room is tiny) and it was bumming me out. So I walked into the guest room and looked critically at how it is set up. It’s a larger room, and right now contains my old queen bed, a nightstand, and a whole lot of junk.
On one wall there is a slightly recessed area, where I suppose a full headboard could go. I measured the width, then measured my desk. Once I discovered my desk would fit in there, I knew that is where it will go. It makes more sense to share my office with a bed that’s empty 350 days out of the year than to share it with the baby and all of her things.
So back into the nursery to plan for a whole different layout, yay. And now there would be room for an actual dresser. I found this one online and ordered it. It matches the crib pretty well. I glanced through craigslist first, as I have done many times in search of a dresser, and as usual saw nothing but cheap garbage and ugly “antiques.” That’s Kitsap Co. for you, I think.
Totally in nesting mode, I decided that the far wall of the room could use a different color. I decided on this as I was looking at a poster for a comic book that I have framed in the hallway, which I got at a zine convention in 2002:
The tan color is closest to that of kraft paper, or maybe a paper lunch bag. Or, the color I like my coffee after the milk has been stirred in. It looks swell with our ultra-pale blue walls. So now I just have to go to the paint store and find a match.
Today I’m going to be cleaning up our bedroom, and hopefully tackling some of the junk in the guest room. I really loathe clutter and want to nip that in the bud quickly.
And now it’s time to go make some apple oatmeal on the stove.
leg cramps
I had problems with leg cramps with Greg, but the MD had me take additional vitamin A and D, because my Ca intake was good so he figured I wasn’t absorbing the mineral efficiently enough. Took an additional 5000 units of vitamin A, 400 units of vitamin D and the cramps went away almost instantly.
The other thing I have found lately to help with cramps (lately with the heat it can be from dehydration too) is a heating pad on low. Love, mom
